Time Waits for No Slave is impressively the fourteenth studio album for the Gridncore Gods, but have the band mellowed with age? er no!
As you would expect the album unleashes itself upon your ears with a furious energy, making Napalm Death in my opinion one of the Heaviest bands on the scene.
Barney's roaring vocals cut through the wall of sound to create an aural assault of pure anger and energy. If you've never seen the man in action, I highly recommend you get yourself down to a Napalm Death gig.
The guitars are loud and thunderous, the riffs are cleaner and more pronounced than a lot of Grindcore records, giving the tunes a more pronounced metal sound, without losing any of the expected energy.
As always with Napalm Death their Punk influence is also strong in both the lyrics and sound adding another twist to the album.
The Title track has a distinctive dark sound but my personal favourite is "The Brink of Extinction", nice chugging riffs and plenty of energy and the lyrics are also a wake up call about the environmental excesses of the human race. There is a brief interview with Barney about the song at the bottom of this page
So if you like your music seriously, seriously heavy with a fast punky edge and lyrcis with a bit more conscience than your average metal band, try a bit of Napalm Death.
